Default Help With Pioneer Elite SC-57 - Output way too low

Hello I just picked up a Pioneer SC-57 and the power coming out of the unit is not right. I hooked a cd-player up and the left and right channels to my speakers. The output way WAY too low I can barely hear it. So I took these tangband 6.5's and wired them directly to the left and right. I even used a bass mechanic cd to increase the output response. With these 6.5s hooked up I can barely make these little free air woofers move even with the volume turned on +12(all the way). I then took my yamaha 85x2 (about 10 years old) and hooked it up. The tang bands quickly bottomed out with less then 25% volume. Something is not right, what can i check to get this thing working right?

Hi,

Nice receiver, I want the SC-25 or SC-27 with the ICE POWER AMPLIFIERS. My wife would kill me. I assume that the SC-57 has the ICE POWER also. Do you have the owners manuals? If so check that see what it says for issues like that. It could come with some advanced muting that may be on? Was this purchased off of ebay?

If you still have no luck call the Pioneer.com # and talk with a tech. I did that with the Definitive Technology speaker .com tech. Excellent help.

Good luck, let us know

thanks for the reply. i dont think it has ice but its suppose to have 140x9 so I expect it to do at least the same as my 85 watt yamaha thats 10 years old. I got the receiver from best buy (they had to order it so I am reluctant to just take it back until i know theres a real issue) The owners manual doesnt say anything in the troubleshooting guide. All settings are default how they come from the factory.

Hi,

Well I know best buy and you better figure it out, and do what you are going to do soon, if you can't get it figure it out within the 30 days.... You had better return it and start over in that 30 bday period. BTW, save a lot of money and get the SC-27 or SC-37 with the ICE POWER, which I know sounds amazing!!! Like better than all the other receivers amazing.

keep us updated!

good luck

apparently the volume goes from -80 to +12. Im old school and have never ran amps past 50%. I cannot get any sound until about -30 on the volume. Its different then im use to but maybe that is the way it is now.
