Default Repair Failures

Hey DIY we were all new to this at some point in our journey to becoming great at repairing amplifiers and some of us are still pretty new. I would love to hear some of those early on repair horror stories/ failures. I think it would be great to share so those of us who are new can feel a little better when we see that big bright ball that almost burns off our eye brows.

I think mine was when I first started repairing electronics I had a mains powered PCB in a PCB holder and somehow touched the wrong two pins of an IC and POP, then I saw the biggest ball of fire. I jumped straight out of my seat, knocked over the PCB and PCB holder. My wife put the icing on the cake by saying "Honey are you ok" in the most pitiful voice she could muster up.

First go at a valve pre amp.

Switched it off and touched the circuit and got a huge shock.
Tutor told me to discharge the cap first so next time I discharged the cap and then touched the circuit and got a huge shock, I had forgot to switch it off.
Needless to say I am afraid of high voltages now so dont work on anything over a 100 volts.
