Hello Everybody im New to this site ... Recently i bought a used Kenwood Excelon car amp Model number Kac-x401M now hears the deal the guy i bought it from EBAY told me it worked fine for both his Kicker 12" 8 ohm subs ? The Amp is rated at 12v 4ohm 200 watts ,12v 2 ohm 300 watts @ 14.4 volt its rated at 400 watts 4 ohm 14.4 v 2 ohm @ 600 watts...
So when i hook up one 4 ohm brand new subwoofer the amp plays perfectly nice tight bass... But when i hook up both subwoofer both are 4 ohm the amp has no bass an it sounds horrable i want to be able to fix my amp but i need " the masters " help on what to look for ... I Hope this is a eazy fix... let me know whats up ASAP... thanks, Ken |

Your subs probably aren't 4 ohms in the intended working range, so you overload the amp with too low total impedance.
3 options exist while keeping your current amp and subs: 1. Live with 1 sub 2. Connect the subs in series instead of parallel, it will not give higher output than using one but it will use half the power 3. Buy an additional amp and have each drive each of your subs |
