hi all.firstly forgive me if i opened a new thread in the wrong place.please direct me here moderators.
now then.i got a rockford fosgate bd1500.1 from a friend that goes into protect when powered up.so i took it apart and found one fet reading short.its irf3415 i'm assuming this is in the output section.so i disconnect this fet from the board and tried startin the amp again.this time it draws excessive current from my power supply and blows the fuse.all the while its whining a lot too.i tried desoldering the red + black wire to isolate the amplifier section and it starts up ok idling at around 2 amps.also tested the transformer and its output is around 59 volts ac. please lead me as to where else i must check now.. |

Interesting it still draws too much current with the faulty FET removed.
Are you sure the other one hasnt gone as well ? Or could be chip that has been wiped out with the FET?
