Default Input rail voltage for Class D amp?

We wish to make a range of SMPS's that amplifier designers can buy from us to power there class D audio Amplifiers.

We are targetting 50W, 100W and 200W.

Please may i ask, what is the typical input rail voltage for a class D audio amplifer?

Or, if not the above, what's the typical range?

Also, what is the required regulation on the rail voltage?

Anything from 12 volts up to 90 volts covers most class d amps.

I have stuck to linear supplies basically due to price of SMPS.

There are many kinds of ClassD amplifiers with various PSU requirements. Some needs symmetrical voltage with big puffer cap, but needs no regulation, some needs asymmetrical rail with less capacitor, but extremely stable voltage, etc...

For the first type I recommend slightly lower voltage than the typical MOSFET Vdsmax: +/-42 V, +/- 65 V.

For the second type 30...70 V is needed.

And a separate + 12 V 300 mA for gate driver, and other voltage(s) for modulator.

Generally all amplifiers need very high peak power capability compared to nominal value. Double, at least.

Some more requirement:

Hard switching should be avoided, cycle skip mode is even worse.

Idle consumption (of PSU) should stay below 2 %.
