Truepath fets - What are they

Could someone tell me what the output devices on the truepath are?

The same ancient FETs Tripath used on their eval/reference boards..... STW34NB20.

You haven't checked the BOM in a while I guess, Anonymous.. ;p
They've been using newer devices (I think IRFP4228) for over a year now.

Nope, keeping up to date on BOMs for kits I have no interest in isn't a hobby of mine. I was just going from memory when the kit first came out.

IRFP4228. They did ship IRFP4321 at some point as well? Not really sure. I just check the 41Hz forum every now and then.

It's the IRFP4321 that has been shipped with the Truepath for a very long time. I have never seen the IRFP4228 used, ever. That is as far as I know in the amp7.

Audiophool supplies 4228 with the Truepath. Many TP users go for it and it has been mentioned many times on the relevant 41Hz thread. They're almost identical to 4321 in any case..

My own Truepath uses 4228. I had bought mine from Audiophool who had organized sort of an unofficial power buy, back when Jan still shipped the old FETs.

yes amp7 has 4228 on, but I can't remember 100% for sure, both would work

Hi Folks, maybe you can confirm from your experiences my listening impressions some hours ago.

In fact I was nearly selling this TA3020 based T-amp T-300 from Hlly. O.K.
I fired my bad review regarding their bad support (phase plug issue) anywhere here but the amp sounded to me after playing a while suddenly more airy and opened in the mids and highs.

Firstly I found the overall sound balance more accurate (and WOW !!) in the bass region. Never feeled such bone dry hammering bass from an amp. But the rest - especially the highs resolution was a bit shy and could not express itself out from the speakers. Can it be that Truepath "opens" suddenly this region after a while burning in ????

And by the way: there is built in the same PCB like the Hifimediy´s TA3020 board ... Did you know it ? I know V-Bro finds the 41Hz TA3020 designs more refined but maybe a short throw in his opinions how BAD or GOOD this board compared to the better 41Hz models is
