ESR limits how quickly the capacitor can take or supply current.

So is there an easy way to know what a good rating for the capacitor would be in this application?

A low ESR cap would be a good start.

Default ESR and Caps

The Caps listed on the Mardis site are Digi-Key - P12384-ND.

The caps you have should work fine. If you are trying to "optimize" the performance then do the research on the low ESR capacitors, but I think this may be over kill at this point in time. To get more bass from the amp the caps you have should be up to the job.
