Roskilde 2011 soundbox

Hey guys.

We are building a new soundbox for Roskilde 2011, after living with the old system for some time.

In that regard we are trying to use a amplifier from 41hz instead of the standard build with a shitty car audiosystem. We could use any advice and guidelines in regard of this, if anyone out there knows a things or two.

We have theese goals with the build:

Play loud.
Longest possible battery life.
Uphold a decent quality soundwise.

We are currently talking about using this build, what are your thoughts about it?

Amp9-Basic
41Hz Audio:AMP9-BASIC

SKY-7493W
Væghøjtaler

Powered by a 12V car battery and using a ipod as input.

Will that work out?
What are the pro/cons?
How long do you think it will last?
Would the Amp6-basic be a better choice and why?

Any ideas or suggenstions towards making this build better are very welcome... Thanks in advance guys...

Anyways, the speakers you've chosen won't play very loud.. But seriously, take the time to read the above mentioned thread and you'll know pretty much anything you'll need. .If there are still questions, you're welcome to join the thread and ask

I just failed to find a talk about AMP9 vs. AMP6, but i'll read it once more

There's absolutely no difference in output between the amp9b and amp6b when they're both supplied with 12V. And those speakers you mention are 89dB/w/m @ 8 ohm. That's pretty much the same as a low sensitive home stereo speakers, ie. they'll not play loud.

Oh thanks - im kinda a newb when it comes to speakers and output, so im only looking at W and nothing else So whenever I spot a couple of speakers playing 100W I assume thats better than a couple playing 75W

Would you recommend the Amp6-basic in my case? Or are the similar "easy" setups that can be used just as well?

Take home: the 'wattage' of a speaker is nothing more than the power they can take before disintegrating. It doesn't say how loud they are.

The efficiency like "90dB per Watt at 1 m distance" (90dB/W/m) says how loud they play with a certain power from the power amp.
In your case, you're loooking for high efficiency.

Some more information about what size you think the boom box should be and how much money you are willing to spend on it would be helpful.
I would recommend that you for example use two pairs of high efficient full tones speakers and connect them in series to reduce the load but still having a great sensitivity. And a tweeter at each channel could improve the production of upper frequencies.
