Ti tas series chip are excellent class d chip indeed, powerful and clear.circuit simple, easy using.
But we found some shortage in it,paste here,if friends can find good methods to resolve it,perfect product bassed these chips will have larger market. First ,Protect latch bug,it can not auto restart when protect occuring, you have to power down or make reset to low this time.we use one timer to resolve it .when protect occur,SD function will enable, use this signal to control the timer make it autoreset,in our new tas series chip amp we have add this function, works well. Second,SE out protect, when set chip at 4ch or 2.1 ch mode and connect output between output and Half DC it can not start, maybe OC or Pin together function trigger.we added on relay and sync timer circuit, make delay and electrical isolation ,all function will enable after chip status on.in our applications found good. Third .Heat dissipation shortage, use these chip at full loader continuous, maybe dangerous under extreme conditions,Pcb burning at worst conditions, because heat excessive concentration,we found this shortage in our lab,so we use effective methods to avoid this.very good heat carrier and good fan cooling system on board necessary. we write our using experiences and solutions for friends, aim to let us use it easier. Specific circuit not important, you can use MCU or use separated circuit . we know"All roads lead to Rome" Of course any friends found good methods, pls paste here and sharing . We think maybe every chip or circuit have bug, perfect things only idea,we will make it better! |

Hi Sherly
about protect latch bug, I found that shorting the SD and RESET pin it works fine. I saw that also most recent chips from Texas have the same functionality and the datasheets suggest to do that in some cases. Can you confirm that this solution could work? Another thing: did you find any start-up problem or bug? sometimes it seems that the chip burns for a wrong start-up voltage sequence... |

Good idea, usually we add one circuit ,it is controlled by SD function and control the Reset pin We found power up problems ,two step to avoid, increase the c_start cap to 1uf ,and add one added soft start circuit at Reset pin,it can set reset low when power up.delay time about 1s. We found it good in application |

Thanks a lot Sherly. Did you find the same bugs in the earlier TAS5613? Or TI solved them?

TAS5613 is the later version for TAS5630.it works stable than ATS5630,maybe request power supply is lower,we have test, it can works when dc voltage up to 50V.
Same bugs in TAS5613,but no problems,as Highest class D single chip.some shortage never mind ,a pity TI company response very slow.we have not find any update or remind in datasheet now. We use it due to excellent sound quality! |
