Hi im a technician needing advice from a engineer I'm working on this amp which mosfet transistors are fried and can't get the original part and need a suitable replacement for it. The original part number is IRF746N and there isn't any available. I think IRF740 might work as a replacement but there is no data sheet on the original part.

Remove all the original output mosfets from the board, apply power, and check the rail voltages. The IRF740 is a good mosfet but it may not be optimal for your amplifier. I see it's rated for 500W on 4 ohms and it appears to be a full bridge, at least that's what i can make out of the marketing blurb. In that case the rail voltage will be around 140 volts or +/-70v if it's a half bridge. It is also rated for 1 ohm operation which means you have a worst case current of 32 amps for the rated 1kW. That takes a lotta mosfets!
