Hi all
![]() this is my first thread on this forum, and i hope that I am not repeating an older one .. I did search! I am currently looking for a class D amplifier to run off 12v batteries in series, so 24v, 36v or 48v. The higher the better.... As its (another) portable system then quintessent current is another issue, with 5w being the max idle power i would like to see..... SO, ive been combing the internet (and this forum) to find amps - the best i have found so far is: Class D Audio TI-600 Amplifier which seems to be perfect, except for it would cost over £200 once shipped to the UK. ![]() The other option, but i feel it would be too low powered is the AMP9-BASIC Are there any other options? I need channels capable of powering two 4R or 8R 10 inch woofers 100wrms+ each, and 1" comps 50wrms+ each many thanks all, and hopefully this is in the right section / hasnt been aske before / isnt a stupid question / etc....

Surely your best bet is to find the cheapest mass produced class D car amp! By 12v batteries do you mean car batteries?
Modern car amps have built in switch mode power supplies that generate a higher voltage to allow high power from a single 12v supply. |

TI600 is BTL configured, you may get similar with it by connecting low cost classD amplifiers also in BTL.

bob123: youve got a very good point there - the VIBE class D amps are LOVELY little beasts (with an active Xover built in!) - unfortunately they are both quite expensive, have high idle power and dont have as much headroom as i would like...
ontoaba: thanks! ill look into it :-) fb: those hifimediy amps look perfect, emailed the maker - should have a reply soon :-). i actually currently own a couple of modded sure 2*100 TK2050s, but they consume 700mA idle between the pair - am trying to lower this value as close to 100-200 as possible! thanks all, keep em coming !
