Default Velodyne SMS-1

Hi.
Has anyone tried Velodyne's SMS-1 bass correction system (or any others for that matter)?

If so, what are your impressions? Is it worth the hefty expense to have a bass correction/optimization system, when I have basic parametric eq's on my plate amps?

Thanks!
