I am new to DIY audio and mainly interested in speaker building. I have an amp question. Is it safe to connect a Sure 2X100 to the right and left channel pre-outs of my HT receiver to the line level inputs of the Sure amp? My receiver is fine for audio video use but I prefer the sound of the Sure for 2 channel reproduction.

Yes, but if you are worried keep the volume on the receiver low, and then slowly turn up.
