I've been running a biamped system recently, using a Peavey class D amp for the sub/low bass and a tube amp for the mids/highs. I use an active crossover to split the signal. I was using a smaller Crown power amp before the Peavey which was underpowered for the job (only 35 wpc). With the Crown I had no real noise issues, but now there is a much higher noise floor - lots of hiss and hum. My theory is that noise from the digital switching power supply of the Peavey is being picked up by the other components. I tried moving the tube amp a few feet away from the Peavey (it had been sitting on top of it on the floor behind my component rack) with not much change. Anybody else have this problem and any solutions? I'll probably just sub out another non class D amp I have soon, but it would be nice to use this one.

The Peavey shouldn't (!) interfere with the other equipment, it's a professionally designed piece of equipment, but of course it may be faulty. It could be that changes in the interconnections (principally the grounding) are the cause of the problems you are experiencing. Can you isolate the source of the problem by turning bits of the system on and off, or disconnecting parts? Where exactly is the noise appearing? I don't expect hiss is coming from the sub...
