Default cross post: T-amp & T-preamp power source

Haven't had any responses on the Power Source forum.

I'm setting up a budget bedroom system, and am looking for a single power supply to run a Trends Audio TA-10 (12v) and a "T-preamp" TCC TC-754 (12v). I will be running some Dayton B652 speakers.

From what I've read a linear 5 amp supply should work to power both units. The Pyramid PS9KX seems like it fits the bill, but is there anything else easily available that might work better?

I am a total newbie in using any power supply besides a wallwart. This might seem stupid, but how exactly do I connect the single banana plug pair output from the power supply to run two 12v devices with barrel plugs?

Thanks, this website is always a wealth of knowledge.

RJ

The psu that comes with any laptop should work, they come in voltages from around 12V up to around 20V.

You need to get yourself a couple of the barrel power plugs, banana plugs (1 red, 1 black) and some two conductor wire (Parts Express should have all of that).

Be really careful of the polarity, it sometimes varies. Some devices want +12V on the center plug and ground on the barrel and on some devices it is reversed. It should say on the device somewhere.

If the two devices end up having different polarities, label them carefully so you never get it backwards.

Thanks for the help. What gauge wire do you recommend? Do I just Y split the wire to power the two devices?
