0.5mm pitch is easy; it can be done with a standard tip (in good shape).

This looks very interesting
![]() Solding surface mount parts isn't all that hard. Even the smallest parts can be handled with relative ease, the trick is to use solder wick/mop. Simply flood the pins and pads beneath them, then suck up all the excess solder. Usually that's enough to get the job done. I can soldered SSOP without bridging any of the pins, but then I do have a 0.6mm soldering tip if needed. The trouble when things get that small is effective heat transfer.
