I was fiddling with my speaker cables the other day and when I stood up I noticed my amp Kingrex T20 t-amp and PSU had stopped working. Opened up the amp and found nothing wrong that I could see. Opened the PSU up and found one dead fuse. Unplugged all the cables, wrapped the fuse in aluminium foil (temporary solution, not recommended!) and fired it up again. All lights come on then i can hear a single click from the amp (protection circuit?) and the LED turns off. The PSU light stays on for about 10 seconds then slowly fades as well.
If I fire up the PSU without the amp connected, it stays on so im assuming the problem is with the amp and not the PSU? Here's some pics inside the amp from another site: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/kingrex/t20.html Any ideas fellas? |

I've never seen one blow a fuse! Usually they just go into protection mode themselves.
Check for short circuits inside the amp. Bad or broken wire? Piece of metal or something touching somewhere? Traces look OK? Are the speaker terminals shorted to the case? That sort of thing. That will give you something to look for until someone else who has had the same problem posts here.

Ours didn't blow fuses. Just T-amp chips... 2 so far.

Everything inside looks ok, any way to know that the chip is blown? Is it easy enough to plonk in a new chip?

Its not so hard to fix with a thin soldering tip.
With my way to do it its much simpler than remove all legs and use soldering wick. You can cut the legs also, not wick it like i did. Chips:Connexelectronic
