Product description seems to be copy pasted from arjenhelder his ebay store (mkIII amp ta2020)
It has no 2.2uF caps as the text says, picture shows 1.8uF caps. No onboard rectifier Would not recommend the board, unless you like modding it to the max

I recommend the Arjen Helder HiFi TA2020 Mk III T-amp. I'm using it stock with the additional 12AU7 tube buffer MkII and it sounds great. As a stand-alone T-amp, it sounds good too, but the tube buffer does smooth out the sound, increases the soundstage size and maintains nice detail.
That said, I've had to overcome a DC current surge from the tube buffer by using a 2-position rotary switch to power on the tube buffer first, and the T-amp second.

A little late but....
The link you show also shows Wurth inductors, not the toroid micrometals as listed. The Wurth are supposed to be quite good according to some modifying Sure boards. Me, I have Arjens 2020 MkIII and it is very good stock. I replaced the caps with Russian PIO, removed the screw connectors, wired with Mundorf Silver/Gold wire, and made a ripple filter for the SMPS. I use a Tube pre in front and it makes all the difference in the world. I already prefer the Helder over my First Watt F5 clone with all the best parts, Peter Daniel boards and huge Sikorel tank caps. The Helder matches PRAT of the F5, but is better in dynamics, imaging/stage and air. The F5 consumes 180w at idle, the Helder 90ma. The F5 doubles as a space heater. As the caps burn in I would say it now has equal timbre of instruments, which with the stock caps it did not, hopefuly it will still get better. Highly recommended. Gary |

Those are NOT wurth inductors, just basic SMD mount inductors!
Please note that there are a lot "wurth like" inductors, and they all sound worse than the wurths! If you are gonna buy this board, pleas, make sure you are able to replace any caps and all coils with new/better ones. The input caps.... :S Output coils.... :S the pot... need to say more? (PS Already contacted seller about incorrect information, replied with "will fix", but didnt fix...) |
