Default amps not working

Ok I have two amps wired in my truck that have worked fine till a few days ago. both are visonik and are hooked to 2 guage power wires. Few days ago i heard what sounded like a bad speaker. I disconnected it and it sounded ok. thought that was it. Next day the remaining speakers sounded scratchy like there was a bad connection. I made sure nothing was touching or no loose connections. Tried disconnecting rcas to see if it was a signal problem. Now with or without rca connected to either amp the speakers just pulse in and out real fast with a funny whirring noise. Now I highly doubt both amps could of blown at same time and speakers sound good hooked to another radio. Have yet to try amps in another vehicle to rule that out. volt meter shows I am getting power to all cables. Also the lights on the amps seem dim when hooked up but still showing power with meter. any ideas on what my problem may be? my guess is either the ground or power has a bad connection which isnt seen till I try pullin amperage thru the lines. I checked all my connections they are tight without any corrosion. Thanks for any help this has got me stumped.

There could be several things going on. Since you pulled the RCAs and you have pulsing speakers, and you mention that the LED is dim on the amp, it sounds like there is an internal issue - providing that there is not an electrical issue in the car itself. I would suggest you rule out that first before proceeding.

If it is an amp issue, whether it be power supply, signal grounding, output FETs, bias control or a combination of all, probably more investigation is needed. You might get better results by re-posting this thread to the Car Audio forum. You'll probably get some good advice on how to troubleshoot this methodically so you are not headed in the wrong direction.

If it's any help, I had a somewhat similar issue and it turned out to be a combination of internal issues with my amp, but we isolated and fixed it through this forum and it's back in service. I'll keep an eye out when you re-post and see if I can provide any further help.
