Hello everyone,
After building and playing with my 6channel DIY amp based on Arjen Heldar's great TA2020 board I need to upgrade my front channels for something a bit stronger - in the range of ~50W/8ohm (or possible bi-amp to the same speaker rated at 91db). I prefer to use an already good board that won't need too much modifications for great sound and low noise floor (such as the SURE 2X100w or 4X100w boards need for optimal performance...) But still on a similar budget... It should also be as compact as possible, hence, lower power rating than 100w is preferable, efficient, and with low standby current (I'll probably need to pack at least two boards and PSU). I saw few nice options like the tc2000+tp2050 based : hifiMdiy TK2050 or the great looking tas5630 based (he has a 5613 version as well) tas5630 tas5630 with SMPS There are other solutions based on Tda8920* or the stronger Tripath chips (TA2022..) which AFAIK gives inferior sound quality... Which one would you choose for best results as well as price/benefit ratio? Any other suggestions? Regards, Gal P.S. - if there is a nice hybrid solution or tube based amp in the same range - it might also be interesting - I currently have a YAQIN Tube Buffer before the amp for the front channels but I might sell it if I could integrate something nicer with the power amp itself... |

I think Tas5630 sound excellent, more power and little EMI,I have made one TAS5630 board like authlxl's board, and compare with TA2022 ,TAS5630 more power more clear.dynamic range bigger ,well-bedded.

Can anyone verify or advise regarding this comment TAS Vs. the Tripath's :
I think TAS series sound better than class T ,because T amp poor bass and more background noise. Is it really preferable? The TI TAS5613 are defiantly more modern... But more DIY experience with these Tripath's TK2050 boards so... Gal |

The 41Hz Audio AMP9-Basic kit looks interesting as well...
A bit stretching my budget and need to be soldered, but does give 4 channels (so I can save on the rest of the 5.1 setup). It's based on the Tripath TAA4100A chip. Can anyone comment regarding it's sonic properties Vs. the other options - i.e. TA2020 or the Tas5613 ? 41Hz kits got very good reviews but I didn't saw anything specific to this model - anyone built it ? Regards, Gal |
