I have just completed a build using a Dayton T-Amp. I made the typical modifications such as high quality 2.2uF caps on the input, Alps blue pot, and a stiffer power supply cap. I also removed the SMD resistors and removed/bridged the input caps. After a through checkout before powerup, I applied power and am getting nothing but a very low volume "tick-tick" sound out of the speaker at about 1Hz. I put a scope on the input path and can see the input signal working all the way to the chip, and it varies properly with the volume pot. Scoping the output terminals reveals a sharp spike followed by a couple of small ripples. I used a voltmeter to verify that there were no shorts and that the power is reaching the chip. I get a working LED as well.
I was wondering if anyone has experience this problem and could provide me with some checks to perform. I fear that I have a bad board on my hands. Thanks for the help. Joe |
