Dead Kingrex amp

Turned on my amp yesterday, there? was a clipping sound, not there is no sound from the amp. Is this thing dead.

Was pretty simple, I hooked up my Klipsch KG4, checked and made sure everything was ok, but the volume might have been set too high. I heard sound, but was sort of like a clipping sound. I turned it down, then there was no sound at all. I'll get some pics tonite.

Opened the lid, and there's a giant hole in the tripath chip. Is this thing scrap now?

It is at least a very nice chassis... if you want to sell it

The most sensible thing to do is buy some board level T-amp and use it in. At the low end PE sells the board out of the original Sonic Impact for dirt cheap... i have a coupld of those to try out.

Lots of choices.

Well you can replace it pretty easily, it's the TA2020 isn't it?

Question is.... why did it blow in the first place?, might be worth checking the output diodes.

Well Argen's board would be a good choice

You havent any warranty left?
My wife turned on the computer and it was max volume to the dcx 2496
and it just went up to smoke...
Didn't like the 4+db from the Behringer.
After contact with Kingrex they sent me a new board.
They where very suprised this could happend.
