TK2050 power switch advice needed from amp DIY beginner
Hi,
I am building one of these amps and getting quite excited thinking about building my first amp from some basic components. I am looking forward to hearing it and hopefully it will replace my nad c350 if it has a better sound quality.
I have been advised and decided to get a 240v to 24V power supply the same as this one 24V DC 14.6A 350W Regulated Switching Power Supply New - eBay (item 160388923248 end time Jan-19-10 22:12:07 PST) I was just wondering if anyone could give me a little help. I do have some electrical wiring and basic experience but my knowledge is limited.
My main concern is the power switch to turn on this power supply. What rating does it need to be to work safely, I know it has to be 240volts but what amps? And does it just go in line with the live wire from the mains to the live on the power supply. Could I use an illuminated switch also? if so what rating would this have to be? And why do some of these switches have 3 terminals or even 4, I don’t really understand why as I thought two would be sufficient just to break the connection. I have tried to look for some information but it would be quicker and probably safer just to be told what I need.
I am putting together a very simple power amp to run from My PC’s Asus Xonar ST sound card, with the volume and level controls on the pc. The rest of it is fairly simple really.
