sure 2x100 hard sound?

hello all,
i bought a sure 2x100 amp for evaluation of all the buzz thats still going on about this amp/chip
ive tryed it with a couple of speakers and find the sound exceptional!
the only problem is i find that the trebble is a little too hard/sharp.

now my question is- if i bought a tripath amp that uses better components - will it take this problem away?

- i was looking at the 41hz trupath and amp 15 ps for example.- i would be happy with it in every way if it just had a softer edge at the top!

what are peoples experiences with this?

Agree with you. This amp sounds hard on the treble in its stock form.

I was looking at 41hz amp but building them from scratch kind of scared me.

I found replacing the input caps and output filters (inductors & caps) improve the sound tremendously...

Hi,

Yep, what Duc said - I would try changing the input caps first. This would probably give the biggest improvement for the least effort.

It looks like a few people have had good gains from changing the output filter inductors, but this might require winding your own inductors so can be a bit tricky.

Also, it's worth measuring the DC offset on the speaker outputs, then try the resistor mod (if the offset on each output is more than say 200mV). This is usually as simple as just removing two resistors, so it's worth a try. There's some great stuff on justblair's site about this mod (and more)...

it took forever.
but it did arrive...eventually. i think it was about 6 weeks.

thanks for the replys, kinda relieving to see people have reported the same problem.

specifically which mod is recommended to help my particular problem?

-ill probably do them all, but if i can just remove this one issue ill pull the trigger on a amp kit from 41hz.
