Hello,

I was wondering if someone could recommend a good design for a first Class D amp. I've already built a tubelab simple se and have some basic knowledge of the whole building thing. I also have a pair of cyburg needles. I am now looking for a class D or T amp that has a small footprint (approx 4x6in) which can drive a 4ohm load in stereo to reasonable loudness. not a big room, the simple se has more than enough power =)
Hoping to keep the cost of the project lower, maybe get the pcb and components for about 100-150?

Hiya,
which drivers do you have in the Needle?

The 41Hz Amp6-BASIC is quite good if you've got 4 Ohm drivers with 87-88dB efficiency or higher: http://www.41hz.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=43 ... E.g., I liked it with Omnes BB 3.01, but it wasn't quite enough with Tang Band W3-871.

The Amp6-BASIC is a ~12V amp, giving you around 15-20W into 4 Ohms.

Depending on your drivers, you may want to go to a ~24V amp. Then the TP2050 chipset is what I'd advise you have a look at. If you're OK with surface mount building, I really like the 41Hz Amp4: http://www.41hz.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=6&catid=
