This little attenuator made a significant improvement in the sound quality over the stock volume pot in terms of transparency and improved frequency response. For $10 +$8 shipping, it was a great investment.

is this the one?

plan on trying one.

gychang,

That's the one!

I'm listening to my Virtue Two now with the stepped attenuator, and the tone is richer with a fuller bass. For 21-steps, the resistor values of each step were selected for nice control of the volume at low and high levels. The balance is really good providing a better image and soundstage.

Hi,

Where can I find this same type of pot but closer than Australia ?

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productResu...p?FORM=KEYWORD

Anything bigger in size will not do, this is exactly what I'm looking for.

TIA,

Eric

E_fortier,
You can try to get these Alps pots on ebay. Their small size should fit your purpose nicely. They come in different value of 10k, 20k, 50k and 100k. Search ebay...

The one I'm presently using are exactly those (same seller) but these are balance pot (not volume) therefore they kinda stop in the middle AND they are linear instead of log.

I am using these as volume pots and they are working fine. The title does say volume pots. Anyone has any comments?

The seller knows they are balance pot but still sells them as volume pot.

It works OK but linear is not the way to go in my opinion.

Regards,
Eric
