You can get some of the small heat sinks used for computer memory chips. Just peel'n'stick.

On the latest version of the board, there is nothing to cut to get out of the way to get the volume control connected. I ordered the terminal block from Newark: https://goo.gl/J7jp2Y. I soldered the PCB board on, connected my rheostat as pictured above and it works perfectly.
