Hello again everyone,
After spending 3 years with 2 heavy transformers and a crazy wiring layout, my UCD-based amp welcomes a SMPS. I bought it from someone who claimed to have removed it from a Denon receiver. It was defective but I only had to replace a burned diode. I don't know about its power rating but judging from the size of the heatsinks it should be more than enough for my listening levels. I had to cut a few millimeters off the heatsinks so they could fit the slim case (approximately 4 cm of height). So, basically, here it is: - front-end module containing input selection circuitry and digital pot (top right) - control module based on a PIC 16F876, controlling the front end, volume display (the LEDs on the front plate), remote decoding and the "reading" of the volume pot (it is an "endlessly-rotating" Vishay pot connected to the A/D input of the PIC) - middle-right - IR remote (sensor at the bottom-left) - 2 transformers, one for the PIC 5V supply and one for the front-end Still not the nicest looking amp (the face plate was painted with a matte black spray paint that expectedly peeled here and there), and the layout could use some improvement, but I'm happy with it.
