Need more Info

The Tripath amps provide clean, detailed sound with broad and deep soundstages. I went from a 100 WPC solid state power amp to a modified 10 watt Tripath. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound. I found even with this low wattage I was able to recreate a life like sound imagery in my listening room. My speakers were designed to be pushed by SET amps. With the quality of the sound I found I was able to lower the volume on the 10-watt Tripath (much to my spouses's satisfaction).

The assembled 10-watt Tripaths amps are so moderately priced; you could buy one and listen to determine whether 10-watts meets your listening requirements. In the case you are not satisfied with the sound of the low power amp you may opt for a Tripath amp with more power. However, you may modify the 10- watt to get more umph from the amp without ,more watts.

There is a broad array of Tripath amps available. The size of your listening environment, efficiency of your speakers, and musical taste will determine whether 10 or more watts are required. Only you can tell what you want to hear. What one hears from a system is just too subjective to get a recommendation sound unheard.

I hope this helps!

Another Virtue amp owner here. Not quite as detailed as my SET, but damn close!
FWIW, in it's stock config. it's about 30 WPC, so it's considerably more powerful than most Tripath based amps. Might be worth a look if your speakers are not high sens.
Good Luck

hi thanks for replys just to let you know i will be using it with mission m70i speakers and marantz cd 67 which i intend to go component upgrades i only listen to rock music but the missions are fairly easy to drive so shoudnt have any probs there i will look at the links i cant wait to try one if they sound that good and all from a little board like that as any body tried the ones on ebay

Wise Council

In the posts above you were advised to read reviews. I concur.

I, primarily, use a 41HZ AMP6 2020 based amp. Although, the 10-watt versions work for me, as well.

I have a couple of boards from eBay. Most of the eBay boards require you to have a power supply. There are many threads on this forum with step by step procedures for modifying the various eBay offerings.

With the exception of the original SI-Portable T-amp you will find that any of the T-amps will do. I would caution you to be wary of basing your decision purely on watts per channel. All of the T-amps beyond the fore-mentioned, SI T-Amp will provide detailed music.

In the end you will have to take the leap and then let your ears determine whether you made the right decision.

I have been playing with the Sure Electronics 2024 based modules....

I would say they are a match for your Nad amp straight out teh bubbl wrap. But with a tiny bit of love and care, they will blow it out the water.

I have been playing with mine with Mission 753 floorstanders. One 10w amp can make them sing. Bi amping and they sing better. I have 5 of them to give 10 channels. I must get round to boxing them up.

Sure does some nice smps power supplies, but another source for these is Circuit Specialists

There are so many variants of the tripath boards around and I dare say they are all very good. I like the sure boards cause there is still some perfecting you can do to them.

I have detailed some modifications in the links in my sig

Hopefully Cirrus Logic, who bought the intellectual property of Tripath when Tripath went belly up (I have 2000 shares of worthless Tripath in my brokerage account...) will continue offering the chipsets....

Haven't heard much about current Tripath inventory issues with TA2020, TA2022, TA2024, TA3020 etc...no indications of shortages and still seem to be ubiquitous....

how many do you recon i will need i like to feel the music in the funiture if you know what i mean would you go for the ones on ebay or the sure ones sorry to be a pain but i dont real know much about these amps cant be be that hard to work with though theres nothing in them thanks steve

Not sure about how sturdy tour furniture is. Bear in mind that at above 10w these things distort. But with sensitive speakers you can get a fair volume from them.

Now as far as how many? I am going to be modifying my speakers to accept more inputs. You can't just double these things up by bridging them or running them in parrallel to each other. That has already been done on the chip.

There are more powerful class f amps out there, not sure how they compare quality wise to the TA2024 or 2020 chips.

I mailed you back mate perhaps the spam filters have it.. Here was my replay

On the Sure amps the section of the amp on the speaker output side of the board is a low pass filter. It removes high frequency switching noise that is created by the fact that class D amps use switching which causes high freq noise. You can alter component values in this filter adjust its slope. I haven't tried it yet.

What does your noise sound like? Is it standard line noise? Soentimes re-routing signal cables can make a difference here. Also making sure that the signal ground is actually grounded somewhere. (not the speaker ground though, that must not be attached to actual ground) In other amps that I have played with the signal ground meets power ground in the module. Not so with the sure amp. This caused my Pedja buffer's not to work (motorboating noises) on the first attempt
