I'm building a Hypex UcD power amplifier with a pair of 400HG amp modules and a pair of HG mono supplies. It will be in dual mono configuration.
My question is: for best sound quality, is it better to have two 500va transformers or is one 1kva transformer just as good? Since the purpose of a transformer is to supply a secondary voltage of adequate amperage and there are no issues of crosstalk between channels at this stage, I'm tending toward getting one transformer for cost, space and weight savings. Yet I see dual mono kits usually built with dual transformers. Advice is appreciated! |
