Just been reading this interesting thesis on SICAM AC-AC single stage powersupply/amplfiers and thought I would share it.
http://www.risoe.dk/rispubl/NEI/nei-dk-4652.pdf I did a smaller scale thesis for my final year on a direct-audio from power supply amplifier by Manny Rodriguez. I managed to get it to work fairly well with the simplest of setups (breadboard and any components i could find round the lab). Its sound quality was limited by the minimum on-time of my primary side PWM mosfet switches. I believe many of the amplifers in the thesis above use primary AND secondary active switches. Has anyone looked at these types of amplifiers? Has anyone built one? Is this topic more suitable for the power-supplies section? -dave
