Thought you might be interested in a customers point of view.

I just did a big outdoor gig with an ex winner of the x factor to around 10000 people.

We used a Meyer PA that used class D amps. There benifits to the live PA sector are :

Weight ! These amps were around 2KW per channel and they were only 1U high ! It would normally take a 3U box that weighs a ton! to get that amount of power. You try humping them about all day and you will soon switch to class D

Heat - When you use BIG class H amps they run hot , VERY HOT. The class D's hardly warmed up !! Also did you know that when semicinducters are manufatured they artificialy age them (burn-in) by powering them on and heating them up. So if your electronics run hot it will reduce its life span !!

Price - You get a lot of bang for your buck

Efficiency - If you are trying to run a huge system off a 32A supply every bit of power you can save helps.

And sound wise they sounded GREAT.
