I have ten TDA8920's i ordered from digikey a while back. Haven't had time to design the pcbs and test them, but it seems fairly straight forward.

I found someone who has used them and they passed me their artwork designs, but i want to do my own neater sm version.

They look good. I was planning to use them in a 12"/1" battery powered speaker running from 10s of lipos or 4x 12v SLAs.

I've got the ExpressPCB files and parts list for the TDA8920 circuit in the picture. It's the same layout as in one of the data sheets, except it is hard-wired in bridge mode, and it includes the power supply. Send email if you are interested and I'll respond when I get back home.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

New design

I made a board based on TDA8920B schematic in datasheet. Since I used most components trough hole but 100nF caps and TDA8920BTH (all SMD), I made a single side board. No noise or EMI problems using just a heatsink (a piece of plane aluminium) conected to GND. Also, I used jumpers to select BTL or SE configuration.
At present NXP recomends a new schematic (simplified one) for TDA8920C and TDA8950. It seams to be propper for 8920B too. Did anybody test the new schematic with 8920B? Thanks, Rodolfo

I could send you datasheets to you to see changes. Ask me by mail to rodolfo@kashima.com.ar.
Class D amplifiers are most usefull for cases in that you need small heatsinks or just large efficience. Have in mind for a home theater some NXP's AB amplifiers may be a better option because quality and an easyer build. Anyway in BTL conf. TDA8920B is more than enough for that you are looking for.

A company right here (POLYTRON) used it, but the filter inductor is very hot, it has good protection and sounds better than usual class-D. It is cheap and very small indeed, my friend designed for them. If there someone near only, may I could help.
He also told me that this thing could very easily driven real 120Wrms into 4ohm.

Upload picture here, low cost ,stable work, but sound not better like TAS5630 or ta2022.
