I like your big heat sink that is mounted on top of the ICs. Where did you get it from ? Do you know who manufactures it ?

MINI8950 BOARD upgrade!

MINI8950 module upgrade, self boot half bridge resonant SMPS power supply, excellent power level SMPS OCP function, works stable, Main parts SMD soldering. better route good sound,Higher S/N.

Cooling output inductor applicated,50 celsius degree idle work.

Dimensions like icepower 125asx2,heatsink better.

POWER OUT:
1×300W/ 8Ω / 10%THD+N / BTL MODE
2×150W/ 4Ω /10%THD+N/2SE MODE
FREQUENCY RESPONSE: THD+N ≤0.05% / 20-40KHz / 1dB/FULL LOAD

Some friends ask for 21.mode connector, it is easier, connect input wire as one input each chip.

we have paste qucik reference here, pls check.

In the datasheet, each of the two inputs into the chip has a positive input and a negative input (IN1P pin 9, IN1M pin 8). Can you simply connect your analogue signal to IN1P and connect audio ground to IN1M? or do you need some kind of driver in between the source and this chip?

Connect the ground of the previous stage to IN1M and connect the signal to 1N1P (or vice versa if you want to flip the polarity). Then any differences between the power amp's noisy ground and the previous stage's cleaner ground will be cancelled out, instead of amplified. Of course, there needs to be one solid connection between these two grounds somewhere in the circuit, but it probably already exists at the power supply. What are you amplifying?

about our mini8950 module, we found some problems from our customers reply, TDA8950 chip burnt when tempreture increase and over current occur in this time, we have burnt lots of chip in testing and repairing,we have got lots of real data of it.

We develop new module of this series chip ,testing now.tda8920cth version(named T2100) have pass test below.

1. full load shorted protect passed,
2. no load full signal out direct shorted protect passed, full signal cap shorted output and inductor shorted output passed.
3.tempreture increase over current protect passed.
4.48hours half load burning passed.
5.pulse signal test passed.
6.square wave test passed.

TDA8950th (named T2150)test going now,

about input pin, IN1M and IN2P connect to signal gnd through one cap + one resister in this series.

We have developed one new series integrated DSP with tda class D chip(T2100D/T2150D), because we found no analog limiter performance better than dsp limiter,it can be works well with larger dynamic range, some of our customer assemble it in live show system, mic and cd signal mixed, amp burnt or tweeter burnt in worst case, but when add DSP unit, it same all fine.

our experiences: good routing and perfect parts value are very important in class D amp, not easy to make single chip larger power level class d amp works stable.

Spent lots of time and money in these series chip, because only this chip have syemmtric dc power supply and can be bridged easily. other single dc power supply chip can be Pbtl , but not easy and protect function not good when shorted out in some case.

We have had problems with this line of chips in our products, too. You have to follow the app notes exactly. Lay out the board the way they say to, use the sil pads and the spring-loaded heatsink the way they say to, etc. etc.

Hi JoelM81, thanks for the answer. So I could connect a preamp RCA lead directly to IN1P and IN1M, or should I use a buffer first?

Yeah, assuming the signal level is correct. If the preamp is grounded to the same power supply as the amp, then IN1P should not be connected to the amp ground, only to the preamp ground. If the preamp is otherwise floating, then it should be.

we have finished t2100/t2150 and t2100d/t2150d modules now, tda8920cth or tda8950th works well, all protection and burning test passed. DSP series have very good dynamic compress performance.

what can be the possible cause of the sound intermittent using TDA8950? With lower volume level, the sound is OK but as I increase volume level, the sound stops for about 0.5 seconds then plays again, on and off (periodically) seems like its happening in part of the song where there is a lot of bass and drums.

maybe output inductor become saturation, change it with one 10A-15A high DC current suppression inductor, and change PROT cap as smaller.

Thanks. Follow up question, why does when I set my volume up to 80 - 100% I get a distorted sound quality. No clipping, no intermittent, but a noisy sound with cracks and pops. The sound output is nice when it is set to 50%.

Another problem is that whenever I plug the AC cord to the mains, there goes a very loud pop noise,. How can I get rid of it.
Thanks for your time..
