Has anyone ever try the APOGEE full digital AMP?

The DDX-8001 or the DDX-8000, I had just did one ,It is great.

I've got two of the Spherex 5.1 XBox amps, which use the DDX-8001. I was able to piggy-back a board that has a micro and USB interface. So far I can control the volume from a VB.net application. Working on the biquads next.

The current version of the chip is the STA-30813, successor to the STA308. ST has sold a lot of these chips and they are used in many home theater systems. I wish I knew which ones so I could buy them to re-use the amplifier boards. The JVC model TH-S2 uses the STA308 and I know that at least one budget RCA amp used the same chip.

These are very nice amps, and with 10 digital biquads you can build some nice crossovers and do a lot of EQ.

Yes,it sounds very nice!
the DDX-8001 has 8 channels,The AMP board I used is a 6 channels AMP+2 channels Phone AMP

Just use the DDX-8001 ,you can achieve all the functions.

Hi Cac,

I have find the firnd the source of DDX-8001, I cannot find the digital input. Can you tell me how to find it?

Thank you.

I can read Chinese, if you need any help in translation. Coz the Google translate doesn't work.

This board is a 6-channel fully-digital amplifier board. The newest form of amplifier technology (yeah rite). DA conversion not required. Converts the I2S digital signal from CD DVD or USB sound card into power to directly drive speakers. The sound quality is far better than a typical class-D or class-AB amplifier (yeah rite again). This board is a digital amplifier consisting of three DDX2100 (underneath the heatsink) and one DDX8001, output power 6 x 50W, can be modded to 3 x 100W (bridgable class-D? interesting). Power supply is 32V and 5V. Boards are all new, but take note, this board cannot be used on its own, need to connect the power supply and digital signal input yourself. I've done up my own using optical in, 51 cd player control with an additional LCD display, 7 buttons, a 360-degree volume control., can provide some technical support. J3 connector pinout as: MUTE_HP MU2100 GND SCL SDA RST MCK LRCK BCK SDA2 SDA1 SDA0 GND. Courier @ $15 for two pieces and below.

Singapore location with a Malaysia flag...?

It's not easy to get things from taobao... most of them only deal within mainland China, if lucky maybe Hongkong. They don't ship overseas and accept only Chinese credit cards.

Then there's the problem of fake products and no warranty also.

Does the amp linked have 8 channels or only 6 channels (but the ddx-8001 supports 8 channels?).

Can you make a power amp that accepts digital signals from DAC, DVD, PC etc. including surround from this amp?
Does it involve some sort of digital control of volume and inputs or how do you do this with an all digital amp (I have built many class-t amps but they pwm amplify an analogue signal).

The site linked seems impossible to buy from without knowing the language. Can someone help buy 4-5 boards if the amp supports the above mentioned things?

The PCB gave 3 pcs of 2001 only. That why the PCB can provide 6 Channels only.

The PCB looks like the evaluation board. EB-8001 evaluation borad. See below: http://www.apogeemems.com/ddx/ddx_evaluation.html

But the spec sheet is too complicate for me. If you are electronc engineer, you can get similar PCB from offical homepages.

:smash:

Nice... thank you panda.
Since I don't want a pc turned on to control the amp and don't have the skills to program something standalone like the spherex set. I'll have to pass on this one.

The Tripath amps have better specs, are easier to input select, volume control etc. as they are analogue, but unfortunately doesn't feature those nice advanced settings like xover, pwm timing etc.

I'd better stick to the T-amps 🙂
