Chipamp vs. Class D - greenhorns stupid question

Hi , I am very interested in quality audio but no technician at all.
Till not

1) Just searched first in section chip amp to find something about tripath.
No information - but in section Class D I found much more.
So whats the big difference between the two sections ?

2) I wanted to find out whats happened with tripath technologies. Are they sold ? Whats true about some rumours ? Are their chips deliverable also in enough amounts in the future ?

The chip amp section covers power opamps such as the National Semiconductor LM3875. Tripath chips are a form of class-d.

Not sure whats happening with Tripath at the moment....
