A couple of my friends are building Hypex UCD Amps. They are using Transformers.
Is there any benefit? Shouldn't they be using Switch Mode PSUs???? Thanks |

No, not necessary! All combination of switching/"analog" amps and psu can work. They all have good and bad sides.
SMPS and switching amps will probably be the winner in the future but I'm not completely sure. SMPS + analog amp is my favorite right now. (Linn Klimax Solo) edit: Hypex is soon comming with a SMPS that probably will be a good match to the Hypex amps. |
