Hi,
Was wondering if anyone in the forum has paired their TA10.1 with a nice tube pre-amp? Do share on the models you're using and the prices. Do the pre-amps need to have very high gain boosters to work nicely with these little Tripath based amps? (btw, sonically I find that the these Trends on par with very high end systems especially if you are powering for a small room) |

I use a MIngDa MC7 which seems to go very well with all my Tripath based amps.

Running a pair of 10.1's off a Little Dot Mk III into bi-wired Monitor Audio Bronze 2 speakers. Only one pair of outputs on the pre-amp so used RCA "T" plugs.
Sounds good to a relatively untrained ear, and cost effective! |

I have this idea where people would be able to afford to have the sound of high priced valve preamp for only a small price per track.
I could go out and buy a couple of really expensive tube based preamps. Then open up a web site where people could download their tracks to private areas. I would record the track back through one of these expensive preamps, then put them back in the private area for the user to upload. I could offer options to send the files back in original format, or 24, or even 32 bit formats and offer multiple sample rates. There you go ... you'd have that sound of the very expensive preamps you could never even dream of before! Even on your ipod! (OK - Just joking |
