There is some flux on bottom of the boards, partially cleaned though. Accessory packs are a nice touch, manuals are a joke! (But that does not affect this readership.) I guess I should look at some component values before testing though, just to be "sure". Ken |

I changed the 1uF ceramic caps in the output Zobel networks to 7.5mm-pitch stacked-foil types on my board. (Only because I didn't like the idea of Y5V dielectric caps in the audio path).
It's one hell of a job desoldering components on these boards. The tracks are really thick and there's no thermal-relief on the plated-through holes, so all the heat from the soldering iron gets diverted into heating up the copper! |

I got mine today! I ordered a 2 ch and got a 4ch...oh well.
I like it so far, with a 16V supply I was getting a descent 15Vrms sine wave out. Thats pretty efficient IMO. Hmm has anyone tried paralleling the outputs, bridging won't work. And what resistors should be used. I have some 0.5R ones. Also, will it handle a 1R load with the outputs paralleled? |

I've read through this now and I'm getting a mixed rating on this thing as a music amp. What I'm looking for though is an HT amp for ordinary TV watching as my HT receiver has lost 2 channels so far. Is this thing worth buying for that purpose?
My alternate plan is to just buy a Panny XR57 and be done with it as I could do that today and have it working tonight rather than wait for an unreliable source and then have to build it into something. I think I just answered my own question. |

i will be honest its not a great amp for hifi, i have a couple of tripath projects and this does not have the insight, detail or or timing. but what the stock board has on both my small test speakers, and klipsch horns, are very solid, bass with an SMPS, and slightly forward but greyish midrange. Its not subtle enough for serious listening/evaluation, but hey....
for the money i paid im still very happy |

Just to update from some serious loud playing on my Klipsch and Ah Njoe Tjoeb, this thing is very impressive. I take back what i said earlier. couple it with an able SMPS, and it can sound pretty bloody good.
next week of course , it will sound sh*t

got both of my amps today (had to pick em up at the post office as my mail carrier does not leave packages without signatures). inspected both and they seem to have done a better job on soldering, as there is much less flux mess on the boards than i've seen in some of the other pictures. i do like the additional parts included (banana plugs, cables, etc), nice little freebie.
while looking around for the rest of my setup, i figured i'd pass along some other deals i found. case: this thing seems to be very nice for the price and i'm talking with the seller now, as it seems like they have a few options available. also checking on quicker shipping. RCA's: these guys seem to have a ton of these available and seem to be a great deal for a decent looking set. as for the PS, i think i'll be going with two of the 24v 6a SMPS's from sure electronics, as they seem to be a heck of a deal again. as you can probably tell, i'm going for the less expesive route, but if anyone has some better suggestions on parts or supplies, i am all ears. can't wait to get this done, along with a 5,6, or 7.1 Triune setup for my home theater. gotta love DIY! |
