In my quest for great sound in small packages, I've wanted to find a class d amplifier capable of working off of 5 volts.
I've found a product available that pretty much does what I wanted to do which is make USB powered laptop speakers that sound good, and get their sound as well as power from a single usb plug (and not a headphone jack) Does anyone know which class d chip this product might use? http://www.uniquemodem.com/uniqueEnglish/nf02.html and a rave review- http://www.dansdata.com/nf01.htm Pekar |

I've found another product that has a class d USB powered amplifier. The Gigabyte GP-S5500 USB Speakers. This one's only $30. |

I would have thought that the current limitation (0.5A) of USB would make it very limited for use with amplifiers, unless you can get by with 1W/ch.
