Here is my 8924 project, pcb dimension 34*84 mm.

My PCB is very weird, as I can't use dual layer boards, and the pinout doesn't help. All 100nF bypass caps are connected Point to point bellow the chip :apathic:

The coils are outside the board also :eek: :D

Well, as I had a lot of care with the ground, and I placed all the bypass caps (althought p2p), it works perfect :clown:

What program did you use to make the board? Eagle doesn't open .lay files.

Congratulations--you must have done a lot of things right to make the amp work.

The heat obviously isn't coming from core losses, so it has to be resistive losses in the coil. Sounds like you got the temperature down to something more reasonable, but my guess is the coil is fairly big.

I had the heat problem originally with the JWMiller 2100 series coil, but it went away completely with the 2200LL coil.
