Hi
First post, so sorry if this has been asked before. 1) Has Class D really "arrived", IE is it as good as top Valve & SS amps? 2) Who makes the best Class D amp? Thanks |

The answers to both of those questions will depend on whom is asked. Be aware that you may receive some biased answers since you are posing the question in a class d forum.
1) yes ![]() 2) depends

At the risk of seeming biased, I would recommend that you have a look at Coldamp. They sound absolutely excellent for me, and have the advantage of their switching PSUs (that you can use with Hypex or others, too, by the way)

Thanks guys!
Rogs, do you have a Hypex amp then? Which model / output? How would these kits compare with a Bel Canto S300 or Ref 1000 ?? Thanks again. Ian |

It would also be interesting to know where people feel that the newest 41hz offering, Truepath, stands in the Class D/T arena, in terms of sound quality.
I have an excellent opinion for some "harcore" Tripath chips but unfortunately, they are no longer in production so a comparison wouldn't really have a point. |

If one were to do an analogy that compares Class-D amps to the history of computers we are probably somewhere around about when Windows 3.1 was released (and the ground-breaking SI T-amp was the equivalent of the Macintosh 128) dave

The only Class D amp I've heard so far is a Bel Canto S300iu. I have to say, it was quite Stunning! Big Soundstage, loads of detail, very musical. If their Ref-1000 is better than that, I'd be VERY happy to own it.
What I'm trying to find out is which is the best? Has anyone compared Hypex or NewclassD to Bel Canto? Thanks again! Ian |

I've heard a few of the Belcanto's, not bad tbh, I also own a pair of modded UCD's, personally I'd stick with my UCD's
