Hi all,
I have a stereo LM3886, a stereo LM4780 GCs and a MOSFET 100W stereo (Nico Ras's very good project) amp. Which all made of me. I am using the LM4780 for my PC and it works very fine. At the moment i plan to use Nico's MOSFET for my living room with my 100$ DVD player and also 100$ DVB recevier (for radio channels). But i have no preamp for it yet. After some searchings i found Ben Hinrichs PGA2311 hiend preamp project on net. (Which also published on English Elektor) http://www.dh3ben.de/html/electronic...1_preamp.shtml But there looks some differences on realisation for this project. That i havent got enoughly mechanical possibilites to finish that. Especially the front pannel design worried me very much. It looks very good project because everything is ready to made. But i guess i cannot realise it. Anyway, Last weekend i found another solution for a preamp and remote control functions. http://www.creative.com/products/pro...&product=14619 In fact this is a high quality sound card for laptops. But it has a stand alone running function. In this mode it can handle one optical input one optical output two line inputs two line outputs one headphone output runs in stereo mode. Headphone output may control independently from line output. And all controls may handle from an IR remote control unit. The specifications look shiny and meets the HIFI specs, THD+Noise: %0,003 @ 2v output SNR: 110dB @ 2v output Frequency response: 10-43Khz Sampling: 96Khz Do you think i can use it as a preamp module for my MOS amp in living room? Does anybody uses this sound card before? Thank you very much for your replies in advance.. Best regards,

From the Creative site: "It even acts as a pre-amp when the PC isn't turned on!"
So thats a yes, it will work. Talk about a loophole in the preamp genre. You can't get a bare bones, no remote, black box with a volume knob for under 200$ nowadays. This thing sells for 140$ straight from Creative. I may be buying one...

I missed that soundcard. In Turkey its out of stock now! When I asked that question it was available! So its a late answer. It was in sale (for 70$) at that time.
