Howdy,
I have a demanding set of big, full range Von Schweikerts that run 6ohms nominal and have shut down many really good 150wpc amps from Musical fidelidy, PS Audio HCA-2, Bel Canto eVo2, coda, etc. when driven hard for long periods. I would really like to build a chip amp for fun, really like the design and philosophy and loved the sound from the one I heard on different speakers. Is there a powerful, fantastic sounding gainclone kit for me? This would by my first attempt, so I'd not want to spend a fortune building it. I'm just doing it for fun, not expecting it to replace my 600wpc Spectron, but like building things, and worse case the gainclone could end up part of a bedroom or office system, I suppose...IF it sounds GREAT! thanks for any insights, any any links to specific kits would be MUCH appreciated! |
