Hi,
help us identify your overheating problem.

Tell/show us the schematic. Particularly the driver and output stage & NFB loop/s.
How long are the speaker cables?
How did you assemble them?
How many pairs are you using?

A CAT5 cable using multiple pairs in close proximity may have significantly more capacitance (from supply to return) than a more normal spaced pair (figure of eight).

This, possible extra capacitance, could cause the amplifier to oscillate if it is badly designed and/or assembled.

zobel and cat5

The a300 should already have a standard value zobel inplace, its an AB amp and should not run to hot. The best thing to do is check the output with a scope and signal generator that way you can pin point capacitive reactance at specific frequencys, then you can fine toon the zobel.
Ditch the cat5 cable its designed to carry 100 to 300mhz digital signals and has inherently high capacitance.
