Hi Acd,
just because many make the same mistake does not make any of them right.

DO NOT fit the audio ground to the strap or wire connecting the smoothing caps together at the 0volts.
This line is plagued with high current pulses due to the charging action of the mains AC waveform and the rectifier feeding a capacitor input filter.
