Do you need a high power system (for example 5x50W + 250W) or a lower power solution?

I recommend you to try LM4780 kits from chipamp.com. If you buy two of LM4780 kit. You'll get six independent channel plus a paralelled one (because one kit includes two stereo pcb and you will make one kits one pcb parallel).
Then you get 5 x 30W in 8ohm and 1 x 120W in 4ohm. After that you must get a subwoofer filter for parallel ch. You can find a 100Hz 12dB LPF simply. After all you buy a 2x25v 500W toroidal transformer and thats all. You've got a 5.1 system.... |

But i missed the final issue that, if you want to control all channel together (with one knob); its a big problem! I have no solution about that! Ask another person.
