Hi all,
I'm building gaincone psu, the diagram I used is from BrianGT m3886 manual. Could I replaced the diode bridges with IN4007? I can't get mur860 in my country. |

i will not do it...mur860 is a 8A diode, 1n4007 is a 1A diode...it will burn if you pump up the volume...the most important thing you have to look is the voltage and amp rating, at least 300V and 8A, the ultrafast specific is just for fanatics...

raikkonen, thank you for your help. I will get 8A diodes for my psu, what's the effect to the sound if not using mur860?

if you are using chip amps the effect is not so much, because they have great psrr...that kind of diodes help reduce noise in supply voltage, but this is still an open question, someone says it's better to use normal diodes...otherwise a good alternative will be adding a 100nF cap in parallel with each diode, simple, economic and works!
