LMs vs TDAs

Have anyone ever compare them???In term of sound???

Long time ago I did a double blind test where someone was switching the amplifiers. I just listened and picked what I thought sounded the best. Both amplifiers were running the same speakers (switched in/out of the speakers) so they could be A-B without time between listen for differences. It was the LM3886 vs. the TDA7294. The one I picked seemed to have better highs and more definition. It turned out to be the LM3886. That is what I liked better but that doesn't mean you will think it sounds better. If you are that interested in testing try to build both and then do a blind test so you don't know which is which and just pick what you like best.

The components surrounding the IC and let's not forget the power supply will have a huge influence on the sound, so it is difficult for one to decide which "sounds better". It's also difficult to say which one is simply better because of differing opinions of how things should sound.

That said, the LM3886 is probably the better choice. I would also recommend looking at the OPA541. I'm very interested in it simply because I love that "Burr Brown sound".
