Default Classic GC vs Biran's kit

Hi,

I saw GC using 1,000UF per rail at chip, but the cap came with Brian chip are 1500UF. I wonder if it sounds different for +/-24Vdc ?

I also have 4x 1000/63V FC on hand. Should I use the 1000UF instead?

Also, the GC having 20K impedence but I already have 50K pot. Can I use the 50K pot instead?

Will it sound better if change the Rf (22K) taht came with the kit with Dale RN60D? Is it worth to change the rest resistors (cost US$0.8 each at retail price)?

Which one is recommended: one 18-0-18 180VA for stereo, or two tranf as dual mono ?

Thanks in advance.

PS: My new speaker is 90dB/w/m with 5.5" woofer/mid drivers in 4x3 room.

1000 v 1500 uf? I doubt anybody could hear the difference!

Your 50K pot should be OK for a non-inverted GC.

It should be worth changing the feedback resistor. the Dales and Welwyn RC55 are both good for that postion. With other resistors, it a case of 'sck it and see'. I like to use a carbon resistor for the input but that's my personal taste.

I also prefer a dual mono PSU. It's a little more expensive though but if you want to go that way, anything from 80VA up (per channel) will sound fine).

And be rid of those newbie anxieties - you are not making life and death decisions here. It's easy to swap components later when you have heard the GC working, and even if you have to change the whole circuit later, it is no big deal!
